We are continuing to conduct experimental tests alongside other partners in the CoSiMa project

As part of the project “Combining simulations, machines and tools to optimize the production process of polymer products” (CoSiMa), project partners at Kolektor Orodjarna in Postojna performed experimental testing for a drug push product with selected material from the PA66 family with a 35% share of glass fibres, where we analysed in addition to process parameters, also the dynamic behaviour of the injection moulding machine. These experiments are intended to support further activities to optimize the injection moulding process by allowing automatic changes to the adjustment settings on injection moulding machines. We will also perform dimensional measurements and accompanying simulations of filling and shrinking on the injection moulded pieces, so as to evaluate the obtained results according to the settings production data, which will also be analysed. Our future aim is to continue with experimental testing with other materials as well as on other products.

Project is co-financed by the Republic of Slovenia, Ministry of Education, Science and Sport and the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund.

The significant progress made with the CoSiMa project

With the implementation of the project “Combining simulations, machines and tools to optimise the production process of polymer products” (CoSiMa), the project partners have made significant progress with the activities carried out thus far. We have created the first hardware and software prototypes of products and prototype tools for experimental testing, which are intended to support further activities for the optimisation of the injection moulding processes with which we will be able to automatically monitor the adjustment settings on injection moulding machines.

The latter depend on the experience of the injection molding machine operator and the rather demanding task given the complexity of the injection molded product. For the successful integration and management of individual smart mechatronic tools within the production cycle of injection moulding, we are preparing an optimisation cycle of the system, which enables control over optimal process parameters and the activation of changes on the injection moulding machine. We have also included toolmakers and plastic mass producers in the process of developing the connection of simulations, machines and tools.

During the project’s two-year period, we have focused on the development and production of special sensor electronics to be installed on the injection moulding tools, data exchange between the injection moulding machine and the injection moulding simulation program, modelling of influential factors in the injection moulding process, analysis of the effect of the production space’s air temperature on the temperature in the tool cavity, and analysis of flow conditions. Despite the coronavirus pandemic and the Covid-19 regulations, we have managed to carry out most of our planned activities in the previous year. We performed a holistic characterization of material properties for the selected thermoplastic polymeric materials, the results of which will come in useful in mass industrial testing of the optimisation system. In the future, we will perform a larger number of tests of the optimisation system with various materials on the constructed and manufactured prototype injection tools, a plan already set last year. This year, in addition to extensive testing, we are also waiting for the validation of the optimisation system, where we will test individual functionalities.

Project is co-financed by the Republic of Slovenia, Ministry of Education, Science and Sport and the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund.

GZDBK Innovations bronze award 2020

For many years now, we have been participating in GZDBK public tender for best innovations in the region. This year was special for L-Tek Elektronika because for the first time we applied with a process innovation and not product innovation.

Our innovation project was named “Smart tool for managing input project documentation”, which aims to speed up the process of managing and processing customers’ project documentation. L-Tek received the bronze award for this innovation.

The tool consists of four closely interconnected modules: BOM Import, BOM, Alternatives, Notes. The module “BOM import” with the help of defined data and the use of artificial intelligence automatically performs the mapping of customers’ bill to the bill of material of the L-Tek company. This is stored in the “BOM” module, where a specific data model is used, which enables the storage of various data related to the BOM. The “Alternatives” module makes sure that all possible replacements are recorded. Replacements can be general (they can be used at any time), tied to the customer, tied to the product, and later in the process, to the order as well. The “Notes” module is intended for recording all other information that cannot be written in the previously mentioned modules, but it also ensures that the entered information arrives to an individual at the right time and place.

The solution was successfully implemented in L-Tek Elektronika’s work process.

Open Day of Slovenian Economy

On Thursday, 28 November 2019, as part of the Open Day of Slovenian Economy, we opened our doors to school children and their parents. The event was aimed at helping pupils decide which secondary school to choose after finishing primary school. We introduced various professions and state-of-the-art Internet of Things technology. The kids and parents were happy to explore the company up close. We believe that young people are excited to learn about technical professions which are incredibly important for our future development. You can see some of the Open Day highlights in the photos below.

Cooperation for ICT & MicroElectronics – Slovenia and Southern Austria

L-Tek participated in a B2B event that was organized to initiate and support new cooperation between Slovenian and Austrian companies in the field of ICT and micro-electronics.

Cooperation is the key factor for the future. As new business processes, fast changes of business models and disruptive technologies are not limited by national borders, BABEG Carinthian Agency for Investment Promotion and Public Shareholding, Economic Chamber of Carinthia, Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Vienna, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia in cooperation with the GZS trade association, Advantage Austria, Republic of Slovenia – the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology organized this event for the participants to get to know the key clusters in the field of ICT and micro-electronics from Slovenia and Southern Austria.

Cooperation in the Slovenian industry day at the European Nuclear Research Organization (CERN)

As a member of the corporate delegation, L-Tek attended the Slovenian Industry Day at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), organised by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport (MIZŠ) in cooperation with the Slovenian Public Agency for the Promotion of Entrepreneurship, Internationalization, Foreign Direct Investment and Technology (SPIRIT) and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia. The event took place from 9 to 10 October 2019.

The purpose of this event was to strengthen and encourage the cooperation of the Slovenian economy with CERN, and L-Tek’s attendance was aimed at gaining new business contacts, increasing the company’s visibility and the opportunity to present its own products and services.

Post-event sentiments are very positive, and we received a great deal of interest from the CERN representatives. We have been reassured of numerous opportunities for cooperation with the Slovenian economy and that our full membership in CERN will further increase and strengthen this cooperation.

For the implementation of the event, we received co-financing on the basis of a Public Call for a ‘Voucher for participation in business delegations abroad‘. The investment is co-financed by the Republic of Slovenia and the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund.
